Sheriff Matt McGuire was elected as the Noble County Sheriff in 2021, bringing with him over 13 years of law enforcement experience and a strong background in ranching and business management.
Born in Dallas, Texas, Sheriff McGuire attended Dallas Christian School until the age of 10, when his family moved back to Perry, Oklahoma, to be closer to his grandfather, Sam McGuire. His deep roots in the community began early, as he started investing in cattle at just 12 years old. He graduated from Perry High School in 1999 before earning a degree in Criminal Justice from Northern Oklahoma College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University.
After college, he gained valuable ranching experience working for Haythorn Land and Cattle in Nebraska, managing large-scale cattle operations. He later returned to Perry to oversee his family's ranch.
Sheriff McGuire’s law enforcement career began in 2007 when he joined the Perry Police Department. There, he served on the drug task force, worked as a K-9 handler, and was later promoted to Sergeant. In 2009, he transitioned to the Stillwater Police Department before shifting his focus to his ranching business. In 2011, he purchased and expanded a Longhorn cattle operation, growing it into a thriving business specializing in seed stock, breeding, and beef production. During this time, he also worked as a reserve agent for the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, assisting with drug interdiction efforts.
In 2019, he returned to full-time law enforcement with the Perry Police Department, preparing for his run for Noble County Sheriff. His extensive experience in law enforcement and business leadership, combined with a deep commitment to his community, positioned him as the right choice for the role.
Sheriff McGuire has been married since 2008. Together, they are raising their three children instilling in them the same hard-working, faith-centered values that guide their family.
Since taking office, Sheriff McGuire has remained dedicated to protecting and serving the citizens of Noble County with integrity, accountability, and a commitment to public safety.
